The Boston Celtics lost a close game to the Indiana Pacers due to controversial calls and missed opportunities.

Last night, the Boston Celtics lost to the Indiana Pacers 133-131 in an evenly matched physical battle. Controversial calls in the final seconds of the game frustrated players and fans alike.

Brown's potential game-winning shot was overturned

With the score tied at 131 and seconds left in the game, Jaylen Brown drove to the basket and appeared to be fouled by Buddy Hield. However, after review, the referees overturned the call and awarded the ball to Indiana. Brown scored a game-high 40 points, but the overturn certainly took the momentum away from him.

Porzingis' defense costs Celtics dearly

On the other end of the floor, Kristaps Porzingis played excellent defense on a potential game-winning shot by Bennedict Mathurin. However, the referees called a shooting foul on Porzingis, allowing Mathurin to step to the free throw line and make two free throws. He made both free throws to seal the win for the Pacers.

L2M Report: One Right Call, One Wrong Call

The NBA's final two-minute (L2M) report released today confirmed that the call on Brown's offense was correct. Although Hield made contact with Brown, the referees did not believe it was enough to constitute a foul. However, the report also acknowledged that the call on Porzingis was wrong, adding to the Celtics' frustration.

Tatum back, starters questionable for Timberwolves

Jayson Tatum, who missed the Pacers game with an ankle injury, will be back for the Celtics' game tomorrow night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. His injury has been upgraded from "questionable" to "available" and he will be a big part of the Celtics lineup.

However, the Celtics will still be missing several key players. Geroux Holliday (elbow), Al Horford (illness) and Kristaps Porzingis (knee) are all listed as probable candidates to play against the Timberwolves.

Looking ahead.

The Celtics have lost eight games this season and will need to put the Pacers loss behind them and focus on the Timberwolves. With Tatum back in the lineup, they have a better chance to get a much-needed win. However, the health of other key players remains a concern.
